CD duplication is no longer a difficult, complicated or expensive process. Nor does this process require high degree of technical expertise. Most desktop computers today come with standard CD Writer. It is common to see people particularly the teenagers, burn CDs to create their own musical mix CDs.

It is also common to see a Boss asking his assistant to create 100 copies of the presentation on the CDs, which should be available the next day. They may also require professional looking labels on the CDs to impress the clients and business associates.

At this point of time the assistant needs to examine whether the CDs should be duplicated and printed in-house or do they need to take the help of a service provider, who may not only do a professional work but should be cost effective as well.

As already said, CD duplication may be done by anybody having the necessary hardware and software, but when it comes to duplicate a good number of CDs along with printing on it, it needs to be looked at with following considerations.

* A fast CD Writer is available to do the job, if yes how much time it will take in producing the required number of CDs

* CD Printing is possible in-house, if yes what would be the quality of printing and how much time will it take

* Lastly, a cost benefit analysis must be done to find out whether it will be economical to do it in-house or it should be outsourced. While doing the costing all the hidden cost such as staff's time cost must also be accounted for

You can arrive at a decision after considering the Cost and the time limitations. At this point of time, you may also need to decide whether you should duplicate or replicate the CDs. Both duplication and replication can be done in-house. For replication you need to buy a stand-alone CD duplicator, if do not have one.

However, you should take this decision after considering its future usage. Buying a CD duplicator may be a better option if you have similar work on a regular basis.

Once CDs are ready, you can even do the final act of packaging in-house. You have to ensure that it must be done as professionally as the job of CD duplication and printing is done. Thus, you can easily do the entire job of CD duplication by adopting the "Do it yourself" methodology.
